Starrycare is seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Lead Mental Health Nurse to provide expert clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health care in a prison setting. The post holder will lead on complex assessments, care planning, risk management, and service development while ensuring safe, evidence-based, and recovery-focused care in line with professional and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of mental health care

  • Provide clinical and managerial supervision to nursing staff

  • Manage complex cases and support risk assessment processes (including ACCT/CPA)

  • Promote recovery-focused, person-centred care

  • Ensure compliance with NMC standards and clinical governance requirements

  • Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement

  • Work collaboratively with prison staff, psychiatrists, and external agencies

  • Maintain accurate electronic patient records



Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC Registered)

  • Degree in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent

  • Significant post-registration experience (Band 6 or equivalent)

  • Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership

  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance and risk management

  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (desirable or willingness to undertake)

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to work autonomously in a secure environment
