My overall placement experience
Introduction
Guys, my first hospital placement is over!
Oh, how fast six weeks go!
It is a bit upsetting that I have finished my placement as soon as I feel like I have now gotten the gist of things.
I remember the repetitive cycle of explaining to patients that it is my first placement and how many weeks it has been.
Now I’m finished, I’ll be back at university for another three months before going to placement at another ward in the hospital.
I’ve just received confirmation on where I will be placed for my next placement; it is the Acute Stroke & Stroke Unit.
About this contributor
First Year Student Nurse
I am a first year student studying a BSc in Adult Nursing at the University of Southampton. I decided to step into the world of nursing due two events in my life. One was being in hospital myself for a short period of time and seeing how lovely and kind the nurses were to me. The second event was watching my cousin go into nursing and listening to her stories about the patient care she was able to give - it really inspired me.
