- Three operating theatres (including two with laminar flow)
- Two inpatient/day surgery wards with 34 beds
- A dedicated three-bed Enhanced Recovery Unit
- Modern diagnostic and outpatient facilities
About the Role
As a Staff Nurse within Pre-Operative Assessment, you'll play a vital role in ensuring patients are fully prepared for surgery, delivering high-quality assessments and providing reassurance throughout their patient journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing comprehensive electronic pre-operative assessments
- Undertaking holistic patient health assessments and triage
- Identifying and escalating patients who may not meet admission criteria
- Supporting the delivery of safe, effective and personalised care
- Communicating complex and sensitive information with patients and colleagues
- Promoting best practice in patient safety, quality and clinical governance
- Contributing to service improvements and continuous development within the department
Who We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from nurses who are passionate about delivering excellent patient care and thrive in a collaborative environment.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice
- Previous Pre-Assessment experience (essential)
- Experience working within an acute healthcare setting
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good IT skills and experience using electronic patient systems
Desirable:
- Phlebotomy, venepuncture and ECG skills (or willingness to undertake training)
- Pre-Operative Assessment Association qualification/course
