Ward Manager - Cardiology
Location: London, The Wellington Hospital
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ward Manager to lead our 20-bed Cardiology, HPB, and General Surgical Ward at The Wellington Hospital-the UK's largest private hospital, rated "Good" by the CQC. The ward supports a growing portfolio of complex cardiac and HPB surgical cases, providing a dynamic and continuously developing clinical environment.

About the Role
As Ward Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the ward, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care through visible and supportive leadership. You will manage both the nursing and administrative teams, fostering a collaborative culture where staff feel empowered, developed, and engaged.

This role provides the opportunity to work alongside some of London's top cardiology and surgical consultants, overseeing a mix of complex cardiac, HPB, and surgical patients. You will help shape a high-performing ward, supporting a team that is continually building new skills as the clinical portfolio grows.

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of governance, ensuring compliance, incident investigation, audit follow-up, and driving continuous improvement. Working closely with the Matron, you will support consultant engagement, service development, operational planning, and the delivery of a safe, positive patient experience. You will also contribute to managing HR processes such as sickness, performance management, and ongoing staff development.

We are looking for someone who brings strong, confident communication skills and the ability to inspire, develop, and coach a growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality improvement methodology, governance oversight, and working within an acute or specialist clinical setting. A passion for promoting best practice, driving standards, and supporting staff to deliver safe, high-quality care is essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with consultants and the wider MDT.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of.
