An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated individuals to join the Women's Health team as a Band 6 Uro Gynaecology Nurse Specialist.

This will involve working in Uro Gynaecology clinics in Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover.

The Urogynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist is a highly skilled autonomous practitioner responsible for providing specialist nursing care to women with complex urogynaecological conditions. Working within the Women's Health service, the post holder manages a caseload of patients, delivering expert assessment, treatment planning, patient education, and ongoing clinical support while ensuring the highest standards of compassionate, patient-centred care.

The role combines clinical practice, leadership, education, and service development responsibilities. The post holder acts as a specialist resource for patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based care across the urogynaecology pathway. They will provide expert advice on bladder dysfunction, urinary retention, catheter management, continence care, pessary management, and related specialist interventions, supporting patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

  • Manage an autonomous caseload of patients with complex urogynaecological conditions, providing specialist assessment, treatment planning, care delivery and follow-up.
  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments, analyse complex health information, and develop clinically reasoned treatment and discharge plans
  • Deliver specialist interventions and provide expert advice on urogynaecology and continence-related care.
  • Ensure high standards of patient-centred care, maintaining privacy, dignity, safety and compassion at all times.
  • Act as a clinical expert resource for patients, carers and healthcare professionals across the Trust.
  • Provide information, education and emotional support to patients living with complex and often sensitive urogynaecological conditions.
  • Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and compassionately, ensuring informed consent and patient understanding.
  • Advocate for patients and support them in making informed decisions about their care and treatment options.
  • Support the Matron in delivering a high-quality, safe and effective service.
  • Lead by example and contribute to maintaining compliance with CQC standards, governance requirements and Trust policies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and work collaboratively with consultants, nursing colleagues and other healthcare professionals.

Education and Staff Development

  • Support the education, supervision and mentorship of nursing staff, students and junior colleagues.
  • Deliver teaching, training and competency assessments within the clinical area.
  • Maintain personal professional development and undertake all mandatory and specialist training.

Quality Improvement and Governance

  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service development projects.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records and ensure compliance with professional and legal standards.
  • Support the investigation and management of incidents, complaints and patient safety concerns.
  • Contribute to evidence-based practice, research activities and implementation of service improvements.

Resource and Operational Management

    • Use clinical resources effectively and support efficient stock, equipment and budget management.
    • Ensure equipment is used safely and staff are appropriately trained in its operation and maintenance.
    • Contribute to workforce planning and skill-mix reviews to ensure safe and effective service deliver
