Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital are now recruiting for a Theatre Manager to lead the team as their head of department. This is a full time, permanent position and would ideally suit someone with previous Theatre experience looking for the next step in their career or and experienced Theatre Manager looking for a new challenge.
Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital is based in Anlaby, near Humber Bridge and the hospital provides care for patients across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. Our hospital offers a range of services and procedures including orthopaedic, general surgery, weight loss surgery, eye surgery and cosmetic surgery. Other services include, radiology - MRI and CT and physiotherapy. We believe it's our people that really set us apart, we work with the very best medical professionals and our colleagues are an attentive and highly experienced team.

Duties and responsibilities
- Provide appropriate clinical and managerial leadership throughout the department.
- Act as a role model and mentor to clinical staff providing advice and support to others to promote good practice consistent with legislation and Spire Healthcare's policies.
- Encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self.
- Identify, develop and support opportunities for improvements in operating department practices as highlighted through evidence, research-based practice and national standards.
- Delegate appropriate activities to other staff and ensure objectives are met.
- Ensure that Clinical Governance and Risk management are embedded within daily practice.
- Promote best evidence-based practice within own scope of practice.
- Achievement of the theatre budget and specific Key Performance Indicators
- Work with others to optimise theatre utilisation in relation to booked operating sessions and availability to meet the demands of elective work, taking action with regards under-utilisation of lists as appropriate
- Manage staff rosters in the most efficient way to meet demand, whilst maintaining compliance with the Agency staff KPI on the Clinical Scorecard and balancing the use of overtime
- Ensure hat effective systems are in place to manage stocks according to financial instructions, efficient utilisation, intelligent ordering and to work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure compliance with the above.
- Ensure all audits/reviews of the departments and their performance are undertaken and implement action plans in response to findings.
- Seek and employ innovative methods of improving service delivery in line with the 5 (HIW) Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE); always aiming to achieve Good and Outstanding.
- Ensure that Clinical Governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice.
- Provide and receive patient information, ensuring that all patient information is provided, received and recorded in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Spire Policies.
- Carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility of the post.
Who we're looking for
- Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with current NMC/HCPC registration
- Significant leadership experience within a large, busy theatre environment
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams
- Strong understanding of theatre operations, clinical governance and patient safety
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrable experience driving service improvement and operational efficiency
- Positive, collaborative approach with a strong team-focused ethic
- Enthusiastic, proactive and energetic leadership style
- Committed to delivering exceptional patient care and staff experience
