Sister/Charge Nurse - Oncology
Location: Private Care at Guy's, London Bridge
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Competitive, with excellent benefits included
There comes a point in your career where you start to think differently about what you want from your role. You may be looking for more opportunity to lead, more support to grow, or more time to focus on delivering the standard of care you know your patients deserve.
At Private Care at Guy's, you'll find that balance. This is a specialist oncology environment where nursing leadership is visible, trusted and supported. You'll play an active role in shaping how care is delivered, while working closely with experienced multidisciplinary teams and internationally recognised consultants.
You'll be part of a service caring for patients receiving complex and advanced treatments, including systemic anti-cancer therapies and immunotherapy. The work is varied and clinically rewarding, giving you the opportunity to deepen your expertise while developing as a leader in a way that feels sustainable.
If you're already working as a Sister or Charge Nurse, you'll find the autonomy and support to continue growing your leadership impact. If you're an experienced Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse in oncology, ready to take that next step, you'll be supported to do so with confidence. You'll have access to structured development, mentoring and opportunities to contribute to service improvement, helping you build your leadership capability in a way that feels natural and achievable.
As Sister / Charge Nurse, you'll provide visible leadership within the unit, helping to create a calm and well organised environment where both patients and colleagues feel supported.
You'll lead the day to day running of the unit during your shift, coordinating care and ensuring it is delivered safely and consistently to a high standard. Alongside this, you'll oversee patients undergoing complex oncology treatments, remaining close to clinical practice while guiding your team.
Supporting your colleagues will be a key part of the role. You'll take time to coach and mentor others, helping to build confidence, share knowledge and create a positive and supportive team culture. You'll also play a role in ensuring safe staffing levels and contribute to workforce planning, helping the team work effectively together. Working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a joined up approach to care that feels seamless for patients and their families.
