Location: Walsall
Rate of Pay: £31 per hour (Umbrella)
Duration: Initial 3 months, with potential extension to 6 months

Summary


As a Sexual Health and Reproductive Health Nurse Practitioner, you will operate independently within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. This role is crucial in supporting vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations, particularly young people under 25, to make informed decisions regarding their sexual health and contraception. You will provide a comprehensive range of sexual and reproductive health services, integrating clinical expertise with health promotion, safeguarding, and collaborative partnership efforts.

Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver comprehensive sexual health and contraceptive services in clinic and community settings.
  • Provide tailored support to vulnerable and hard-to-reach individuals, including young people.
  • Prescribe, supply, and administer various contraceptives, including:
    • Combined oral contraception
    • Emergency contraception
    • Contraceptive patches
    • Subdermal implants
    • Depot injections
    • IUD/IUS fittings
  • Conduct STI screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Provide pregnancy testing and referrals to appropriate services.
  • Deliver opportunistic cervical screening and health promotion advice (e.g., safer sex).
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring appropriate follow-up care and treatment.
  • Use brief intervention techniques to support behavioural change and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to improve access and continuity of care.
  • Undertake clinical procedures such as venepuncture, immunizations, and medication administration under PGDs/PSDs or as a prescriber.
  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met, particularly for under-16s and vulnerable individuals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and contribute to service quality and continuous improvement.

Experience Required


  • Proven experience in sexual and reproductive health services.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable and/or hard-to-reach populations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload.
  • Experience in contraception methods, STI management, and health promotion.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience in clinical risk assessment.

Qualifications & Skills


Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Relevant clinical experience in sexual health services
Preferred:

  • Postgraduate training in Sexual & Reproductive Health
  • FRSH (Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare) qualifications
  • LOC IUT (Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques)
  • Contraception certification
  • Nurse Prescriber qualification (desirable)
