Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Junior Sister who wants to join our dynamic and diverse team within Douglas ward at St Mary’s Hospital.

The successful candidates must have good decision-making skills, enhance clinical experience with good managerial skills in managing and lead a busy Hepatology ward and acute medicine side rooms in delivering patient centered care within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team. • Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
• Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
• Plan organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
• Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
• Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
• To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
• As delegated provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high-quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multi disciplinary team.
