As a key member of our nursing team, you will uphold the highest standards of the NMC Code of Conduct while helping us drive our Nursing Strategy forward. Your day-to-day will involve:
  • Clinical Excellence: Managing medicines clinics, administering medications safely, and acting as Nurse in Charge when required.
  • Patient Advocacy: Providing educational support to help patients and carers make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
  • Safety & Vigilance: Identifying and reporting risks promptly, modifying care plans to maintain a safe environment, and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Strategic Support: Actively promoting Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust's values, policies, and future-focused nursing initiatives.

Main duties of the job
• Qualified and registered as an RMN with the approval to practice in the UK.
• Completed and signed off preceptorship.
• To have trained as a Practice Assessor, to be able to practice assess students.
• Supervise and appraise junior staff.
• To have demonstrable advanced skills in Mental Health assessment formulation, risk assessment and care planning.
• Work within the Mental Health Act Code of Practice and any other legislation relevant to the role.
• To have knowledge of the Care Act and its implications for practice.
• Undertaking all relevant training and participating in regular management/clinical supervision and annual appraisal.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to travel between Trust sites in a timely manner.

  • Significant knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care e.g. Mental Capacity Act

  • To participate in Quality Improvement, Audits, Research, etc.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS.
  • Ability to support and develop an environment which ensures effective clinical care and innovation.
Training, Qualifications and Registration

  • RMN or RNLD.
  • Completed preceptorship
