We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join our dedicated Children’s Unit team at Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and child-focused environment, delivering high-quality care to children and young people.
Our CYP service is continuing to develop, and we are seeking nurses who are passionate about providing safe, effective, and family-centred care while contributing to service improvement and innovation.
This is a full-timerole for 37.5hours a week. The role holder willbe requiredto cover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
Deliver age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care for children across a range of clinical settings.
Monitor and respond to changes in condition, escalate concerns, and carry out clinical observations, treatments, and interventions safely.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with NMC and organisational guidelines.
Work in partnership with families and carers, providing information, reassurance, and emotional support throughout the care journey.
Involve parents in care planning and discharge preparation, recognising their role in supporting recovery and wellbeing.
Communicate effectively with children of all ages, using appropriate play, distraction, and communication techniques.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
Registered Nurse (Children / Paediatrics) with valid NMC registration.
Experience delivering nursing care to children and young people in hospital or community settings.
Strong communication and family liaison skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and family dynamics.
