Physical Health Nurse (RGN)
£37,200 per year | Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm | Good CQC
We're looking for an experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) to take the lead on the physical health needs of women receiving specialist inpatient mental health care. The service includes a low secure unit and rehabilitation provision, supporting women living with complex mental health conditions and personality disorders.
Rated Good by the CQC, the service brings together professionals from across physical and mental healthcare to provide coordinated, individualised support. As the Physical Health Nurse, you'll work closely with colleagues including GPs, Speech and Language Therapists (SALTs) and the wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring physical health remains an integral part of each service user's care.
The position is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, offering a more structured nursing schedule, although occasional weekend working may be required.
What We're Looking For
- Active and unrestricted NMC registration as an RGN.
- A minimum of 2–3 years' post-registration nursing experience.
- Previous experience and confidence with NG feeding.
- Competency in phlebotomy.
- Previous experience training, coaching or educating colleagues.
- An understanding of mental health and how physical and mental healthcare needs can interact.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Confidence working autonomously and coordinating physical healthcare needs.

Your Role
- Lead and coordinate the physical healthcare needs of service users across the service.
- Complete physical health assessments and monitor ongoing healthcare needs.
- Provide clinical interventions including NG feeding and phlebotomy.
- Identify changes or concerns relating to service users' physical health and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Work closely with GPs, SALTs and other members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Support colleagues in understanding and responding appropriately to physical healthcare needs.
- Deliver training and share clinical knowledge with members of the wider team.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure physical health care plans remain up to date.
- Promote healthy lifestyles and support service users to engage positively with their physical healthcare.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, clinical governance and professional practice.
