Job Position: NHS Registered Mental Health Nurses

Location: United Kingdom

Salary: Starting from £25,000 per year

Job Duties: As an NHS Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties aimed at delivering high-quality mental health care. These duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health needs, including their emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
  2. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and goals.
  3. Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications, monitor their effects, and educate patients about their medications, potential side effects, and adherence.
  4. Therapeutic Interventions: Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and psychoeducation, to promote recovery and coping skills.
  5. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention during mental health crises, ensuring patients' safety and implementing appropriate crisis management protocols.
  6. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' rights and preferences, ensuring their voice is heard in treatment decisions and care planning.
  7. Risk Assessment: Assess and manage potential risks, including self-harm and harm to others, implementing safety plans as necessary.
  8. Family and Group Therapy: Conduct family therapy sessions and facilitate group therapy to improve patient relationships and coping strategies.
  9. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including progress notes, assessments, care plans, and incident reports, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  10. Education: Provide education to patients and their families about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and community resources.
  11. Community Integration: Assist patients in transitioning back into their communities, promoting social integration and reintegration into work or education.
  12. Medication Education: Educate patients about their prescribed medications, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence.
  13. Crisis Prevention: Develop and implement strategies to prevent mental health crises and relapses, including stress management techniques and coping skills.
  14. Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure holistic patient care.
  15. Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, audits, and data collection to enhance the effectiveness of mental health services.
  16. Mental Health Promotion: Engage in mental health promotion activities in the community, raising awareness and reducing stigma associated with mental health issues.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Nursing Degree
  • Experience preferred minimum 1 year.
  • Home Country Nursing registration
  • English Language Proficiency
  • Drivers preferred.
  • You must be over 18 to apply (branch dependant)
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Flexibility on travel - some shifts may require you to drive or have access to public transport (Branch Dependant)
  • A good standard of English and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • An enhanced DBS, which you can apply for upon registration.
