About the role
As a Functional Assessor, your clinical knowledge will be utilised in a different but highly meaningful setting. You will work on either:
- PIP (Personal Independence Payment) or
- WCA (Work Capability Assessment)
Our Talent Team will support you in identifying the most suitable benefit based on your background and experience.
There is no requirement for previous Functional Assessor experience. Full training is provided.
This is a hybrid role, with up to 3 days per week working face-to-face in an assessment centre and the remainder of the week working remotely from home, offering structure and flexibility, with no evenings or weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities
- Holding telephone, video or in-person consultations with people who are applying for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) benefit or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
- Assessing a variety of complex conditions and impairments.
- Using your strong verbal communication skills and writing high-quality, fair and accurate assessment reports using a specialist IT system.
- Working with your line manager to advance your own professional development and career as a Functional Assessor.
Essential experience and qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience working as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD).
- You must hold full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
