What you will do

• Respond promptly to calls as directed by the call centre to ensure immediate and efficient patient care.
• Conduct clinical assessments and deliver high standards of care for patients detained by police or other agencies, determining fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
• Effectively manage minor illnesses or injuries and make necessary referrals for serious conditions.
• Perform forensic examinations and document injuries, possibly providing opinions on causes, and collecting DNA evidence.
• Assess and attend to police officers injured on duty, offering professional opinions and appropriate management.
• Collect necessary specimens under relevant legislation guidelines.
• Operate within the framework of PACE legislation Code C (Police and Criminal Evidence Act).
• Provide timely written statements and give oral testimony in court or tribunals if required.
• Maintain robust clinical records and contemporaneous notes accessible to the company regardless of contract status.
• Evaluate and manage cases of alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
• Conduct mental health and learning disability assessments when needed.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Head of Clinical Operations to enhance medical services.
• Perform all responsibilities expected of a forensic clinician in custody.
• Ensure compliance with all post-related requirements and legislation.
• Sustain clinical and forensic competencies with a record of experience.
• Engage in promoting and upholding policies such as Equality and Diversity, and Information Governance.

Personal Specification

Essential:

• Registered Nurse (adult) or Paramedic with at least 2 years of experience (3 years depending on contract).
• Current NMC or HCPC registration.
• Skilled in venipuncture.
• Residency in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Prior experience in nursing roles such as A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, or as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Valid UK driving licence with access to a car for work.

Desirable:

• Evidence of leadership course or qualification.
• Experience collaborating with teams and external parties to review patient care.
• Familiarity with innovative practice initiatives.
