We are recruiting for an experienced Colorectal CNS to join our major Colorectal Surgical Centre a t The Princess Grace Hospital , part of HCA Healthcare UK!

The Princess Grace Hospital is a centre of excellence for the complex care of digestive diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to provide bespoke, patient- and family- centred care and counselling, from pre-assessment through to aftercare. In addition to working closely with colorectal surgeons, this role also involves collaboration with other HCA facilities and serving as an expert resource person.

As this is a senior position within the team, experience and knowledge surrounding the speciality of colorectal nursing is essential

The role of a CNS is a crucial role in cancer care, providing specialized support for patients with colorectal cancer throughout their treatment journey.

As the CNS you will maintain continuity of care, manage complex cases effectively and safely and also enhance collaborative working and better patient outcomes.
  • To participate in the HCA W1 CNS rota for triaging referrals within Straight to Test service.
  • To effectively manage a caseload of inpatients/clients reviewing them daily.
  • To be able to request and interpret investigatory results and to request radiological investigations
  • To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support.
  • To establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients.
  • To link with healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of people in the community.
  • To be actively involved in the fortnightly Colorectal MDT meeting.
  • To work in collaboration with the wider MDT
  • Our team provides care and support for patients at all points on the surgical pathway from preassessment consultation/counselling, in-patient and post discharge follow up calls and support to all patients having major surgery.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team is essential in this position, and effective time management skills will be required .
  • Education of patients, carers and ward staff is also a large part of our role, and the successful candidate will be committed to providing teaching and act as a mentor to junior members of staff.
  • The post-holder will support the development and evaluation of the colorectal cancer service using the Key worker role to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • The post-holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive nurse-led service that is holistic in its approach, evidence based and meets the individual needs of colorectal cancer patients

What you'll bring:
  • NMC registered nurse
  • Experienced in utilising the ERAS protocol
  • Advanced Assessment Skill course
  • Cancer Keyworker experience
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in Colorectal nursing
  • Completed relevant post graduate module (level 6 or 7)
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
  • Advance communication skills
