About the Role:

As a Clinical Nurse, you will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager and be a key part of the leadership team, overseeing the care delivered by our dedicated Care Managers and Support Workers. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our clients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care. You will lead on clinical matters, support the development of care plans, and ensure that all care meets the highest professional and regulatory standards.

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership to Care Managers and Support Workers
  • Ensure client-centred care that respects individual wishes and preferences
  • Lead and support the nursing and clinical needs of clients, ensuring the best outcomes
  • Oversee medicine management and ensure adherence to legal and professional requirements
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all clients, ensuring high standards of care
  • Maintain up-to-date records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards
  • Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to enhance client care
  • Act as a mentor and guide for care staff on clinical and medical matters
  • Train and support care teams and provide ongoing clinical supervisions

What are we looking for?

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC PIN
  • Excellent decision-making, organisational skills, and ability to work independently
  • Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices and CQC standards
  • Experience in working with clients with complex needs, particularly neurological conditions and spinal injuries
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident driver to cover all areas of Cornwall

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a clinical management role
  • Experience in training, mentoring, or coaching
  • Familiarity with incident analysis and root cause reports
  • A background in complex care services

Clinical Nurse­­­­­­

Job Purpose

The Clinical Nurse works alongside the Clinical Nurse Manager to provide operational clinical, managerial and professional leadership for Care Managers and Support Workers working within Ourway Care Limited and is responsible for the delivery and standards of care provided to our clients ensuring safe, effective, person-centred care.

Internal and Management

This role will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and Registered Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • To positively support the Registered Manager and Clinical Nurse Manager in providing leadership to the care and support workers
  • Ensuring clients are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are acted upon
  • To have responsibility for leading, supporting and facilitating the nursing and medical/clinical needs of clients
  • To support senior management in the delivery of high-quality care and support, and to deputise when required
  • Cover the out of hours emergency line on a rota basis
  • To maintain skills at a current level and undertake required training and development
  • To perform in accordance with standards agreed with the Registered Manager and the Registered Provider and to follow legislative requirements, relevant regulations and accepted best practice in line with professional code of conduct
  • Ensure care plans are developed in collaboration with clients, their families and friends (where appropriate) and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Undertake all aspects of medicine management in line with legal, professional and regulatory requirements
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals supported by the service
  • The efficient and effective day-to-day management of care delivery and the staff team to ensure that required standards are maintained
  • Ensuring all recording systems and organisational documentation are of a high standard and kept up to date
  • Providing support and guidance for care staff on nursing and medical/clinical matters that are in the scope of being a clinical lead
  • Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service
  • Develop effective working relationships with all employees within the service
  • Be proactive and provide guidance, support and leadership to staff
  • Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for clients in the service
  • Understand when external healthcare support is required, and liaise with them to ensure best outcomes for people that use services
  • Identify information, concerns and ideas for improvement and share them with senior management of the service

Other duties and responsibilities to be undertaken may include:

  • Be registered with the relevant body and work within the associated Code of Conduct
  • Understand the regulatory framework that governs the service, including the role of the Care Inspectorate and its requirements
  • Ensure that developments in best practice are researched, shared, understood and implemented
  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management
  • Understand, share and implement all policies and procedures relevant to the role
  • Be open to learning opportunities and professional growth
  • Understand the health and safety requirements associated with the role

Person Specification

Essential

  • Confident driver willing to cover all areas of Cornwall
  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with a valid NMC PIN
  • Well organised, able to make decisions and work on your own initiative whilst working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good English - written and verbal
  • Up-to-date with current evidence-based practice
  • Have a working knowledge of CQC standards and regulations
  • Experience of working with clients with complex needs, in particular, those that have neurological conditions and spinal injuries
  • Motivated to ensure every individual within the company realises their full potential and is treated with dignity and respect

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a similar management role
  • Experience of training, mentoring and/or coaching
  • Experience of incident analysis and the completion of root cause analysis reports and subsequent action plans
  • Embedding improvements and sharing best practice
  • Previous experience of working in complex care
