Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 School Nurse (RGN) to join a dynamic School Nursing Team based in Guernsey. This permanent, full-time role offers the chance to deliver high-quality public health services to children and young people across designated schools and communities. You will play a pivotal role in promoting health, addressing inequalities, and supporting positive outcomes for young learners. This position is ideal for a registered nurse with specialist school nursing experience who is passionate about preventative healthcare and community-based practice.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a defined caseload of schools or geographical areas

Plan, deliver, and evaluate public health and health promotion initiatives

Identify health needs and address health inequalities using evidence-based practice

Deliver the Healthy Child Programme and coordinate immunisation programmes

Conduct school health needs assessments in partnership with relevant stakeholders

Act as the main point of contact for allocated schools, building strong professional relationships

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including public health, statutory, voluntary, and private organisations

Participate in safeguarding processes in line with local child protection procedures

Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based clinical records

Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to junior staff where required

Coordinate multi-agency activities and contribute to service development initiatives
Essential Requirements

Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a recognised nursing qualification

Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Specialist qualification or demonstrable experience in School Nursing or Community Public Health Nursing

Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection frameworks

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
