What you will do:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for children and young people with acute, chronic, and complex healthcare needs, providing them with the best possible support and comfort.
• Act as a clinical role model, offering supervision, mentorship, and support to junior nurses, students, and healthcare support workers, contributing to a strong and knowledgeable cohort of healthcare professionals.
• Administer medicines and treatments safely following NMC standards, local policies, and clinical guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of care and practice.
• Work collaboratively with paediatricians, allied health professionals, social workers, and other multidisciplinary team members to deliver holistic care, fostering a team-based approach to healthcare.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients, escalating concerns in line with clinical governance procedures to ensure patient safety.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (Child) qualification.
• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Evidence of continued professional development relevant to paediatric nursing.
• Mentorship, Practice Assessor, or equivalent teaching qualification desirable.
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) or Paediatric Life Support training desirable.

Registration and Compliance:

• Current NMC registration with no restrictions on practice.

Experience:

• Significant post-registration experience within a paediatric inpatient, community, or acute care setting.
• Experience caring for children and young people with a range of physical, developmental, and complex health needs.
