Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Conduct comprehensive forensic examinations for individuals affected by sexual assault or violence.
  • Collect, document, and manage forensic evidence in accordance with clinical and legal standards.
  • Provide trauma‑informed care and emotional support throughout the examination process.
  • Undertake detailed clinical assessments, including injury documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with police, safeguarding agencies, and other partners to support investigations.
  • Maintain meticulous forensic and clinical records to evidential specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to forensic protocols, safeguarding procedures, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Make appropriate referrals for ongoing psychological, safeguarding, or medical support.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in forensic healthcare, sexual assault services, or safeguarding settings.
  • Competence in forensic examinations and evidence handling.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multi‑agency environments.

Desirable

  • Experience within a SARC or forensic medical service.
  • Forensic examination training or relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults or young people.
