Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) within the Triage Referral Line Team in Birmingham, earning £26.00 per hour. This ongoing full-time locum opportunity offers a rewarding role within Forward Thinking Birmingham's Referral Management Centre. Working in a strictly 9am-5pm, phone-based position, you will be at the forefront of ensuring children and young people aged 0-25 receive timely access to appropriate mental health services. Following an initial full-time office-based training period, there is the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis with two days from home and three days in the office.

What you will do

  • Referral Management: Act as the first point of contact for clinical referrals and mental health enquiries received by telephone.
  • Clinical Triage: Assess and triage referrals to ensure individuals are directed to the most appropriate service.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify urgent and high-risk presentations and provide rapid clinical decision-making where required.
  • Clinical Advice: Offer professional guidance and support to young people, families, and professionals accessing the service.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Liaise with internal teams, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to facilitate effective pathways of care.
  • Service Navigation: Utilise the 0-25 Service Directory to provide accurate information and signposting.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing learning and training to maintain and develop specialist knowledge.
  • Service Improvement: Contribute ideas, feedback, and best practice recommendations to enhance referral management processes.
