We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Band 5 Custody Nurse/Paramedic to join our expanding team in Islington, earning an attractive salary of £37,000 annually, which will increase to £38,110 after a successful 6-month probation period. What you will do:
- Respond promptly to all calls directed by the call centre
- Perform clinical assessments and deliver high-quality care for detainees
- Evaluate fitness for detention, interviews, release, or transfer
- Manage minor illnesses or injuries and offer appropriate referrals for serious conditions
- Conduct forensic examinations to document injuries and gather DNA evidence
- Assess and manage police officers and staff injured on duty
- Collect legislative specimens as required
- Work in compliance with PACE legislation, Code C
- Provide written statements and oral testimony as needed in legal settings
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records
- Assess and manage drug and alcohol intoxication and withdrawal
- Conduct Mental Health and Learning Disability assessments where appropriate
- Support the development of medical services alongside the Clinical Lead
- Maintain and enhance clinical and forensic skills
- Participate in equality, diversity, and safeguarding policies
- Utilize the RADAR System effectively
Personal Specification:
Essential:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse (adult) or Paramedic
- Minimum 2 years qualified, or 3 years depending on the contract
- Valid NMC or HCPC registration
- Proficiency in venipuncture
- Residency in the UK for at least 3 years
- Experience in A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, as a Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse, or drug and alcohol worker
- Possession of a valid UK Driving License and access to a car for work purposes
Desirable:
- Leadership course or qualification
- Experience in collaborative patient care review
- Exposure to innovative practice
