Getting your e-giggles; 5 nursing blogs to help you relax

Nursing's a specific kind of occupation and you've got to be one to appreciate the day-in-day-out sense of what it's really like. Try out these nurse blogs and take a moment to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Here at nurses.co.uk, we are a humble crew.

We know we can't give you everything a modern online nurse needs. We can get you a job – of that we are sure – but we're not in the trenches with you, day in, day out.

Fortunately, there are nurses out there who blog and producing plenty of funny, heartfelt posts for you to get your empathy-fix when everyone else is at work and you've no-one to natter work stuff with.

Check out these nursing blogs; each and everyone's a corker.

Emergiblog

Kim, a San Franciscan ER nurse, had been blogging for a whopping 8 years about her life and work and she's got a lovely writing style. You're really there along with her experiencing her trials and tribulations.

Her recent post about management taking away the Half & Half (a US milk product) for patients and nurses (but not the doctors and office staff, funnily enough) was especially amusing.

Are you Having Any Pain?

Morsels of we've-all-been-there nursing reactions via amusing gifs. Perfect for a quick few minutes for defray your nerves and a reshare for your mates.

At Your Cervix

A sweet, funny and heartfelt account of a student midwife working towards full certification. Good for actual information as well as reflective posts and funny anecdotes.

Adventures of Hood Nurse

This one isn't for the faint-of-heart or the prim and proper. Hood Nurse swears, she's blunt and she's straightforward.

But she isn't pretentious or shy and she takes you along with her as she reflects on the more pressing nonsense her career bestows upon her.

Scrubs Mag

Alright, this one isn't a blog; it's an online magazine. However, it's got plenty of simple and silly articles, funny video clips, puzzles and nursing-related cartoons for when you need something light and fluffy to giggle at.

It's got suggestions for career prospects too and advice from those in the know but it's mostly there to help you relax.
