Student Nurses: Advocate for Your Patients

Student Nurse, Alexandria, gives a quick explainer on why you should speak up for your patients if you see something that isn’t right, & why advocating for your patients is essential as a Nurse.

It's Alexandria Grace, one of the creators for Nurses.co.uk, and today I thought I would give some Student Nurse advice, AGAIN, to my fellow Student Nurses.

It is always so important to always make sure that you advocate for your patients, even as a student.

And I think that it's so important that you know that it's okay to speak up.

If you see something that's not fair, if you see something that's not done properly or done right, or if you see that there might be a potential safe-guarding issue with a patient and their family, then it's really important to speak up about it.

And escalate it and let someone know because you never know.

You could be saving that child or you could be saving that patient from a potential, kind of, safeguarding issue or a domestic problem that could be really dangerous.

So, always speak up even if you think that you might be wrong.

It's better to say something than nothing at all.

Honestly.

So speak up.
