The Importance Of Researching Your Placement

Play video: "It really helped me feel a bit more confident about the things that I would be dealing with."

Student Nurse, Alexandria, gives a quick explainer on why researching your placement before you start is vital, with some pointers on what to look out for.

Hi guys.

It's Alexandria Grace.

One of the creators for nurses.co.uk and today I have a message for my Student Nurses about the importance of researching your placement area before you actually start your placement.

So for me, I'm currently on a placement in Paediatric A&E.

So before I started the placement I researched things like triage, critical care.

Obviously I have done my CPR training and looked up other things like common presentations and common reasons why children come into A&E.

It really helped me feel a bit more confident about the things that I would be dealing with.

So I highly recommend that you do that just to feel a bit more organised before you go into placement.

I hope that helps.
