Aoraki Midwives - SCDHB
Permanent, Full Time or Part Time
As a midwife, do you value the relationship you build with a woman during her pregnancy, and get satisfaction from being part of the start of a family? There’s a lot to appeal about being a Caseload Midwife – especially as part of the team at Aoraki Midwives, part of the South Canterbury District Health Board.
Welcome to Aoraki Midwives. We provide primary and secondary care to women in South Canterbury. This is hands-on midwifery work; we see around 600 births a year, ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high-needs.
As a Lead Maternity Carer, you’ll be on-call at all times for the women on your caseload. You’ll take care of their antenatal checks, provide them with education, information and support, attend deliveries, and provide postnatal care for six weeks. However, this is an LMC role with a difference; unlike most LMCs, you’ll be provided with equipment, transport for your visits, and professional development, and receive annual and sick leave. In short: more focus on your clients, less paperwork.
Welcome to a better career. In this smaller unit, you’re a midwife, a support person, and an advocate for the women and the babies in your care. You’ll understand the emotional highs and lows that come with this transformative time of their lives, and be able to develop a relationship where they trust and connect with you.
This is a role for a midwife with high professional standards, who wants to provide a service you’re proud of. You’ll be running your own practice and caseload, so you’ll need to be strongly self-motivated and autonomous.
You’ll be well-supported by the wider hospital-based team. We collaborate and we work closely to make sure our patients get the best outcomes, and that our work environment is the best you could wish for.
Welcome to the Timaru District. If it’s a lifestyle change you’re looking for, this is where you’ll find it. As well as very little traffic, and a friendly, relaxed community. Not to mention easy access to outdoor and cultural activities all year round. You’ll find plenty to refresh you outside work – and have more time to do it too.
Welcome to our community. This isn’t a place where you wave your patients goodbye at the door – this is a small, close knit place, and you’ll watch their babies grow as you go about your daily life.
This is midwifery as you’ve always imagined it. And if you’re ready to take on this very satisfying role and lifestyle, then it’s time to take the opportunity.
