Exciting Opportunity for a midwife to join the Whipps Cross mother and baby


Immunisation team


Public Health Midwife Band 6


26.40 hours per week-weekday/weekend rotation


(Fixed term to March 2020 with opportunity to extend)


At Barts Health, we are looking for an enthusiastic midwife to lead the immunisation team at Whipps Cross; maternity unit .The midwife will work collaboratively with her team to provide a seven day service for women and babies providing a vitamins programme, Pertussis and Flu to pregnant women and BCG to new born babies up to 28 days post birth. Working in different environments is an essential requirement of the post so you must be able to work in a flexible way in hospital and possibly community settings to meet the needs of our women and the service.

Barts Health NHS Trust has a world-wide reputation for innovation in the care of mothers to be and their babies. Immunising mothers during pregnancy and their babies is an important part of the public health agenda.

Our local community is home to families from a diverse mix of ethnicity, social challenge and health needs, Whipps Cross Hospital is situated in the East London with good public transport links. We provide Maternity Services to approximately 4,500 women a year. We have an Alongside Birth Centre, a Delivery Suite, Ante natal and Post natal ward and a level 2 Neonatal unit situated within the hospital.

    • To lead the immunisation service and work closely with the Consultant Midwife for Public Health as well as the multi-disciplinary team, in a service that is evolving to improve the quality of care for women and their babies.


    • To work in a multi professional way with band 5 immunisation nurses, midwives,

neonatologists, support workers and stakeholders relevant to the role.
    • No matter where you start within the NHS, you will have access to extra training and be given every chance to progress within the organisation.


    • Barts Health NHS Trust actively encourages development within the workforce and

employees are required to comply with trust induction programme.
