As a Trust we care for around 2,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families each year in our Macmillan Cancer Care Unit. The Unit is made up of the Lawrence Ward, Galton Unit, an Information Centre, and a high-specification seminar and videoconferencing room. We also provide a tranquil garden dedicated to patients, carers and visitors.
This role is within the Galton Day Unit which provides chemotherapy, the department is supported by our pharmacy team who work closely with us to provide timely delivery of chemotherapy drugs.
The successful candidate will work towards our in house chemotherapy training under the supervision of the practice development nurse to become fully competent in the administration of chemotherapy.
Clinical support within the department is delivered by consultant oncologists, haematology nurses, and chemotherapy nurses working alongside a team of administrators and volunteers. Our Macmillan Positive Living Team, made up of social workers, dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and clinical nurse specialists, offers patients a range of complementary therapy and support for their overall wellbeing.
