Adult Nurse – Army Medical Services
Join Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) and you’ll make a crucial difference to the lives of soldiers and civilians at home and abroad. You’ll take in experiences and challenges that you’d never encounter in a civilian career, and enjoy everything that Army life has to offer.
British Army nurses care for soldiers, their families, and other patients in an extraordinary range of environments all over the world. Join QARANC and you could find yourself working in a modern hospital in the UK as part of a large team, or in a field hospital on an operational deployment. You’ll also play a vital part in providing healthcare during our humanitarian operations, facing new challenges and requiring resilience under pressure. Wherever you are, you’ll be able to draw on outstanding resources, and on the support and advice of experienced colleagues.
Already registered as an adult nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you’ll start your Army career learning basic soldiering skills at an Army Training Centre in Pirbright or Winchester. After a short Transition to Military Practice Course, you’ll be posted to a Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit to begin a full rotational preceptorship programme. As you progress, you’ll be able to specialise in a range of clinical disciplines, take on an increasing amount of responsibility, and even apply for a commission. And whatever direction you take, you’ll have access to the same sport and adventurous training opportunities enjoyed by everyone in the British Army.
