Key Details: I am recruiting for a Lead Cancer Nurse to join the Oncology Department at an Industry leading Private Hospital located in Birmingham. You will join a multidisciplinary and expanding team to lead the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of the individual and wider community.

Location: West Midlands - within easy access via Train, Bus and car with car park
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum / £20.51 - £25.64 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week. (Negotiable DOE)
Bonus: Annual bonus provided.
Hours: Full Time - 37.5
Contract Type: Permanent

Further Details about the role: I am looking to recruit a Lead Cancer Nurse to join the Oncology Department within a Private Hospital located in Birmingham. You will be required to provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to cancer services team. To ensure the safe, effective and efficient management of the cancer care service within allocated resources. To regularly administer systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) treatments and to demonstrate expert knowledge and nursing skills in the management of the patients. To be involved in the development of services which are patient focused with emphasis on informed choice, decision making, and evidence based best practice and care. To be a competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner providing expert evidence-based nursing care to patients in the cancer care Outpatient setting. Provide support and information for new patients receiving a cancer diagnosis if required or requested by the Consultant. To have expert knowledge of SACT treatments and the potential complications and side effectives of the drugs and to demonstrate highly developed skills in cannulation, venepuncture and the care and management of central venous access devices (CVAD). To develop and maintain a team approach to care delivery in collaboration with other departments e.g. Ward, Pharmacy, Outpatients and with outside agencies i.e. hospice, community teams and the local NHS Trust.
Person Specification: I am looking for the successful applicant for this Lead Cancer Nurse position in Oncology Department to be confident, proactive and demonstrate a desire to improve on their existing skill base to add value to the department. It is a must to be a registered Practitioner with NMC without any restrictions. ENB 998 or Equivalent, ENB 237 / N59 or Equivalent (Chemotherapy Competency). An active CPD Profile. Chemotherapy administration and related management. Counselling skills. Venepuncture / Cannulation Skills. Care of Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs)
or HCPC registration, along with significant clinical experience within the theatre environment. Strong organisational and planning skills including risk management and managing people. Previous management experience as a senior level is a must. You must be able to show evidence of relevant professional development, both clinically and managerially. Experience within an acute nursing care is desirable. Education must be degree educated or equivalent. Up to date knowledge in area of practice. Awareness of NMC code accountability. Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the CQC.
