Endoscopy Nurse- London

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The overall responsibility within this role is to assist physicians performing endoscopies. The duties of the endoscopy nurse include preparing sedation, monitoring the patient during the procedure, and providing after-care and instructions.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting into the Endoscopy Manager as an Endoscopy Nurse you will work to provide quality patient care across the whole endoscopy pathway. You will work to ensure safe and efficient decontamination of flexible endoscopes and ensure quality planned care for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures within own scope of practice, while participating in the improvement in Essential quality requirements and Best practice standards across the department. Part of your role as an Endoscopy Nurse will be to continuously enhance your own skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with current practices. You will communicate effectively with other departments within the hospital about a patient when required. Your day to day will involve the coordinating of supplies and equipment during and endoscopy list and in the immediate post op phase, ensuring all equipment in handled in a safe and appropriate manner. You will work to assist the Consultant Endoscopist during any procedures while providing continuous monitoring of the patient at all times.

EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Nursing Degree
NMC Registration


REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for the role, you will need to:

• Have at least 1+years acute nursing experience with NMC or HCPC registration. Experience in Endoscopy is preferred however training can be offered to the right candidates who are keen to develop in this field of nursing.
• Be competent in adequate record keeping and possess strong communication and IT skills
• A strong ability to build long lasting relationships with Consultants across the department.
