Job Description

Break into Prison Healthcare...

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

As a healthcare provider, we recognise the fact that prisoners are a socially excluded group with complex healthcare needs that can often be associated with poor outcomes. We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history.

Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader - 4 years ago we were managing 12 prison healthcare services and in 2020 we're providing healthcare services in over 40 prisons across the country.

HMP Brixton is a Local prison holding male adults ages 21 and over located in Lambeth

About the role...

As a Dual Diagnosis Worker, you will develop and maintain integrated working practices and care pathways for the client group that meet the complex and changing needs of people with co-existing issues.
You will provide positive and inspirational leadership to HMP Brixton nursing teams in terms of substance misuse, IDTS practice and delivery. Promoting an agenda of recovery from the dependence on drugs and/or alcohol within the client group and which supports the goals of reducing re-offending, increasing re-integration into meaningful and sustained occupation and improving social and family relationships.

The Post holder will be responsible for achieving agreed key performance targets held within partnership treatment plans, Care UK service improvement plans and personal performance plans. You will assist the Substance Misuse team and Mental Health team leader and Head of Healthcare in ensuring that all Care UK and Forward Trust policies and procedures, including Serious Incident and Complaints policies are fully implemented and complied with.

What we need from you...

An RGN/RMN with valid NMC Pin and evidence of CPD, you will have experience of working within the field of Substance Misuse/Dual Diagnosis. With experience in key working and care planning and of working within a multi-disciplinary team.

Ideally, you will also have ENB 998 (or equivalent), post registration certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, ALS provider, BBV training and RCGP certificate in management of drug misuse.

What can we offer you...

If you looking for a challenging and rewarding nursing role and want to develop your clinical skills in an environment where no two days are the same then this could be the new job for you!
You will have many key working relationships, accountable to the Head of Healthcare.

We offer a salary of up to £34,000 per annum depending on experience, plus other benefits including 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holiday days, as well as access to bank hours, CPD and re-validation.

Additional Information...

This is a full time vacancy, working 37.5 hours per week.

If you are interested in the position please contact careers@careuk.com for more information, or please apply in the first instance and your application will be reviewed.

Please note that offers of employment are subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and receipt of satisfactory references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.
