Job Description

Trainee Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - Band 6/7, depending on existing experience

We are seeking experienced neonatal nurses who are looking to further develop their career and undertake training towards an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner qualification with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Newborn Services at Saint Mary's Hospital, Manchester

Training is completed by undertaking a comprehensive and well established course delivered by the University of Salford at Masters level. During training you will be closely supervised in the clinical environment by Consultant Neonatologists and other experienced clinical staff.

Once qualified you will provide specialist support to the care of babies at all levels of dependency. You will join a Tier 1 rota comprising junior medical staff and ANNP's giving you the experience of working within ICU/HD/Delivery Unit and the post natal wards. There will be the opportunity to work across both sites within our managed clinical service to gain a variety of skills, gaining valuable experience in different clinical environments.

After successfully qualifying and a period of consolidation the post will attract a Band 8a salary.

We have an established team of ANNPs on both sites and so this is a great opportunity to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary teams and to further develop your portfolio in a busy and unique neonatal care environments. We take responsibility for the development of our teams very seriously because we know that this is key to the success of our high quality service.

Development of the ANNP team is led by a Consultant Neonatologist and each trainee and qualified ANNP is allocated a named Consultant supervisor to provide on going clinical support and development with protected teaching time. Once qualified you will be involved in both audit and research.

Both neonatal units are bright, spacious, well equipped and with great facilities for our families. Co-located with both the maternity unit and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Oxford Road one of the largest units in the country, providing care to babies who need a full range of medical intervention as well as those requiring more specialist medical care (for example renal or metabolic) and patients requiring surgery. The local neonatal unit at Wythenshawe is a busy and expanding unit providing short term intensive, high dependency and special care.

We are looking to appoint staff who are driven and motivated with a really positive attitude to help us develop our service and in return you can expect us to support and value you as an individual. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £29.50(standard disclosure) or £47.50 (enhanced disclosure) Which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment.
