The BHI is part of the Division of Specialised Services at UHBW, and is a regional specialist hospital with a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence, providing for cardiology care for adult patients across the South West. The institute performs over 1500 adult cardiac operations per year, and delivers a full range of services to diagnose and treat people with heart problems, such as Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), pacemaker insertion and Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI).

You will be working in one of the leading research centres for cardiovascular disease in the UK alongside a range clinicians, healthcare professionals and specialist nurses. The BHI consists of the following wards and departments, and we would welcome applications from experienced nurses with an enthusiasm cardiac nursing for these areas.
  • Cardiac Surgery Ward
  • Cardiology Wards
  • Coronary Care Unit
  • Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
  • Cardiac Catheter Laboratory

Nurses at the BHI have the support of a dedicated Education Lead Matron who is by supported Education Practice Facilitators. You will gain excellent experience that could pave the way for further career development within the BHI, such as Clinical Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and Research Nurses.
