Registered Nurse-Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery

This hospital is a large acute facility providing a range of complex services for patients, specialising cardiac services, neurosurgery, liver and HPB medicine, rehabilitation, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and many more. They have an available opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work on the orthopaedics and neurosurgery department of the hospital with excellent experience, skills and knowledge. The overall responsibility within the hospital's orthopaedic/spinal and neurosurgery department of the hospital caring for patients with spinal conditions and also undergoing neurological rehabilitation due to complex spinal injuries.
YOUR CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working alongside the clinical team you will act as a support to ensure effective day to day delivery of post-surgical care and rehabilitation. Working as part of a team you will be competent in IV cannulation and phlebotomy carrying out these tasks on a daily basis. Your day to day will involve co-ordinating the shift and delegating tasks when required to meet the needs of the patients, carrying out risk assessments on patients and formulating and updating their care plans, providing clear and concise records and contribute to written reports, plan and prioritise interventions to meet the changing needs of the patients and assist and encourage patients to achieve their daily and long term goals. You may also be required to deputise for senior staff in their absence.
YOUR EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be eligible for the role, you will need to:
- Have at least 6 months post-graduation experience and a valid NMC registration
- Have experience of working in an orthopaedics/spinal environment with a real passion to further develop your skills in this area
- Be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
