If your answer to these questions is yes, the Sister/Charge Nurse role in our Early Pregnancy and Gynaecological Diagnostic Outpatient Treatment Unit may be right for you.
The Early Pregnancy Unit operates an emergency service to patients on a walk-in basis to those women who are experiencing pain and/or bleeding up to 13 weeks and 6 days in pregnancy. Patients are assessed by the specialist EPU team on the same day as attendance. The service routinely operates Monday – Friday and provides a reduced service at the weekend.
The Gynaecology Diagnostic and Out Patient Treatment Unit provides a one-stop consultant led service, allowing women to be reviewed and treatment plans formulated. The unit provides a high quality service to both acute and non-acute gynaecology patients. This service reduces the need for follow up care and provides a more effective and efficient pathway for our patients.
The successful post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure emergency early pregnancy patients receive care tailored to their needs and diagnosis and treatment. The position will also include nurse led clinics, telephone advice and assisting clinicians with outpatient procedures such as ERPCs and Medical Management of Miscarriage. They will also work as part of the multi-disciplinary team involved in the provision of gynaecology care in the Gynaecology Diagnostic & Outpatient Treatment Unit which will include assisting with clinical procedures such as biopsies, hysteroscopy and treatment of Bartholin’s abscess.

To be a top Sister or Charge Nurse you will require a strong sense of ownership of your clinical area and demonstrate leadership qualities as a role model to our nursing workforce. You will be honest and approachable, able to work as part of a team, and work in a fast paced environment whilst consistently providing high standards of patient care.

This setting offers huge potential to further develop your clinical, leadership and management skills. Applicants will have demonstrable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting and preferably a real passion for Women’s Health services.
Successful candidates must be friendly and enthusiastic with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The post holder will have successfully completed an NMC approved teaching course and a nursing degree.
