Home Manager - Nursing Home - Milton Keynes - £60,000 per annum

We are currently seeking an experienced Home Manager based in Milton Keynes to join an established and prestigious nursing home provider to deliver excellent quality, individual care to all of the people living in the supported care service.

Main duties and responsibilities as Home Manager:

  • To fully comply and be accountable for meeting the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009
  • Responsible for the health and social care needs of all service users within the Home
  • To adhere to, and put into practice, all company policies and procedures, as and when appropriate
  • To recruit, interview and appoint suitably trained and experienced staff for the Home, utilising all resources available;
  • Ensure that the home have a ready supply of appropriate labour ensuring nil use of agency staff
  • To effectively manage and train staff in line with the requirements of the Care Standards Act 2000; Quality Assurance Systems
  • To effectively manage all complaints and representations and implement disciplinary procedures as necessary
  • Responsible and accountable for providing CQC complaint information in specified timescales
  • To participate in day and night-time audits of the Care Centre, and report any areas of concern in a timely fashion
  • To effectively communicate with the Regional Director in all matters in relation to the business
  • To effectively manage and work within the allocated budget;
  • To monitor staff attendance through the devising of Duty Rosters, Sickness and Absence Reports and effective management of annual leave and training attendance in accordance with the Home staffing and Company Policy and Procedures;
  • To establish a good working relationship with service user's families and advocates, and hold regular support group meetings
  • To implement a program of social and leisure activities, in partnership with the service users, which accurately reflects their wishes and choices

Skills and abilities required for this position:

  • Budgetary control and marketing skills
  • Staff training and development programmes
  • Development of user support groups
  • Knowledge of Care Standards Act 2000 (essential)
  • Commitment to own personal development
  • Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative
  • Commitment to research and development

The ideal Home Manager will possess:

  • NVQ Level IV in Management (or equivalent)
  • 1st Level Registered Nurse and NMC PIN (Nursing qualification not applicable to residential Home Managers)
  • NVQ Assessor (desirable)
  • The legal right to work in the UK
  • Home Management of particular Service User group
  • Quality Management Systems implementation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills (essential)
