Band 6 Senior Clinical Research Nurse

We're looking for a full time (37.5 hours) Band 6 Senior Clinical Research Nurse for a 12 month fixed term contract to coordinate and deliver clinical research studies at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

Clinical research at MFT

MFT is a leading provider of tertiary and specialist healthcare services treating over one million patients each year.

Our Research and Innovation Division is dedicated to driving continuous improvement in the care our patients receive through clinical research. We support some 300 principal investigators, who undertake research across a diverse range of clinical areas, spread across seven hospitals and community services, to deliver improved diagnostics, treatments and devices for patients in Manchester and beyond.

MFT has a large research portfolio, with excellent facilities and internationally renowned researchers; we have a global reputation for conducting and delivering pioneering research.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is capable of contributing to the development of research within our Gynaecology/IVF Research team.

You will take a proactive approach in managing clinical research studies including developing study procedures and practice, gaining consent and approvals and recruiting patients, alongside clinical duties including providing the highest quality patient care and collecting and processing samples.

You will be instrumental in implementing study objectives and will provide dedicated support to ensure that studies are delivered to time and target. You will be the main point of contact for study principal investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken at MFT safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. You will also have opportunities to showcase your work and will at all times be an ambassador of research at MFT, at internal and external events.

Prior clinical research nursing experience is not essential, but advantageous. You will be educated to a degree level; you will have experience of nursing in a clinical setting and have First Level registration RN (adult). Comprehensive training and an induction programme will be provided for successful candidates. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training. Opportunities for developing new research and clinical skills are available and actively encouraged. Willingness to travel to other sites is essential. Flexibility around service demands is essential due to the nature of studies.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £29.50(standard disclosure) or £47.50 (enhanced disclosure) Which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
