Job Description

A great opportunity at Fountain Way Hospital, Salisbury has arrived; we are currently looking to recruit nursing staff into Band 5 staff nurse positions for Amblescroft North.

Amblescroft North is a 20 bedded mixed gender unit that cares for individuals experiencing mental illness of a functional nature; these illnesses range from psychosis to mood disorders to depression. We cater predominantly for individuals over the age of 65 and are situated in the same building as a ward that primarily cares for individuals suffering from an organic illness such as dementia.

All applicants will need to have a demonstrable interest in caring for and supporting recovery in the older person with a functional mental health need. An appropriate knowledge, skills set and commitment will underpin a strong interest in this work.

This post is open to both experienced and newly qualified RMNs - the ward is in a position to offer a comprehensive and robust Preceptorship programme where you will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge already established through your training qualification. All RMN's on Amblescroft North are actively encouraged to undertake training to support student nurses in line with NMC Guidelines and will play a vital part in service and clinical quality development for the ward. Support and supervision for all staff is a fundamental part of the culture of the ward and individuals are actively encouraged to seek out learning opportunities throughout the Fountain Way site and Trust.

You will be expected to have experience working with vulnerable client groups and knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Depravation of Liberty will be expected within the role. You will be responsible for delivering care for service users with complex needs ensuring full implementation of the care programme approach. You will be expected to administer medication and other treatments as agreed by the team. Complete risk assessments and other physical care assessments relative to the field of work, have good communication skills with all staffing levels, relatives and carers. You will be expected to work shifts covering a 24hr period this will include night duty, to ensure that patients are supported to meet their physical, psychological and social needs on a daily basis however consideration around flexible working will be considered.
