Based on The Department of Health implementation guidelines Early Intervention Services:
Reduce the stigma associated with psychosis.
Improve professional and lay awareness of the symptoms of psychosis and the need for early assessment.
Reduce the length of time young people remain undiagnosed and untreated.
Develop meaningful engagement, provide evidence based interventions and promote recovery during the early stage of illness.
Increase stability in the lives of service users, facilitate development and personal fulfilment.
Provide a user led service, i.e. a seamless service available for those from age fourteen to sixty five years (on acceptance) that effectively integrates child, adolescent and adult mental health services and works in partnership with primary care, education, social services, youth and other services.
To ensure that care is transferred thoughtfully and effectively at the end of involvement.
In order to achieve this Manchester Early Intervention Service offer:
• Culture, age and gender sensitivity;
• Family orientated services;
• Meaningful and sustained engagement based on assertive outreach principles;
• Separate age appropriate facilities for young people;
• Emphasis on normal social roles and service users' development needs, particularly involvement in education and achieving employment;
• Emphasis on working with distressing experiences rather than on diagnosis.
• A recovery based model of service;
• A service designed and delivered through effective partnership
Key Requirements of the Post Holder:
We require a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in providing evidence based recovery interventions to people experiencing a first episode of Psychosis. The post will aim to reduce the impact of psychosis and ensure that the person remains actively involved in life with a focus on living and ordinary life and to achieve personal recovery.
We are a very Dedicated, Highly motivated, and Dynamic team. We offer a range of Psychological Therapies/Psychosocial Interventions and have a comprehensive training programme across the directorate. We have regular in house training and clinical supervision with our two Clinical Psychologists.
We work very closely with Service users and families, offering family interventions and therapy. We value Service User involvement and encourage participation in service developments on many levels.
