What could you achieve within our progressive haematology nursing team?

The haematology service at UCLH comprises of two inpatient haematology wards, a day care unit, ambulatory care and apheresis service. We are well established and provide one of the largest BMT services in Northern Europe. We are looking for motivated cancer nurses to work within one of our respected acute haematology and bone marrow transplant wards. We pride ourselves on innovation in practice and quality nurse led services. As a team we support each other to deliver a positive patient experience, and as a service we have clear commitment to staff development.

Band 6 Staff Nurse

This is a senior staff nurse position suitable for a nurse with experience working at band 5 or above and at least 12 months relevant clinical cancer experience 6, (please see person specification for details).

The post holder will be expected to take management responsibility for specific aspects of ward activity and take an active role in the evaluation and development of nursing practice on the ward.

Key facets of the role include;
  • Providing clinical support and supervision
  • Nurse in charge responsibilities
  • Education of patients and the development of less experienced nurses on the ward.

The post holder will work closely with colleagues to provide effective day to day management of the ward and to ensure the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care.

Applicants should have sound knowledge of the speciality, an interest in user involvement and pro-active approach to their work.
