About Us and the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the team and coordinate our multi-agency relationships between our children’s homes and wider stakeholders, specifically those involved in the clinical and healthcare needs of our children.
A Wilderness Way Ltd is a leading provider of residential care for children and young people. We operate short and long stay placements for some of the most vulnerable children in the UK. Our outstanding reputation in England and Scotland means exceeding all expectations.
We are currently on a journey to further enhance our offer of support to children and their families by developing a multi-disciplinary team internally and developing further specialist support within the wider company. We are excited about this journey and are confident this will complement the existing work we do. Our journey is far from complete, but we know that what we intend to achieve will grow, inspire, enable and unite the people who work with us. We want you to invest in this journey as much as we will invest in you, through the training, togetherness, progression and engagement you’ll enjoy here.
We work with 12 to 17-year olds who present with a wide range of mental health problems. Many of our children have experienced earlier abuse and neglect and have attachment difficulties and emotional dysregulation.
This is a new post for the organisation and one in which we see the importance of investment internally to support the stretched resources of local CAMH services.
This unique opportunity will allow the successful candidate to gain experience in a multitude of specialist areas working with children in care who require immediate and ongoing support. This will allow you to expand your knowledge and skillset very quickly, giving you an outstanding platform for your career within the niche of mental health nursing. Therefore, this is not just a job for you, but a chance to progress in your career through development and hard work.
We use a variety of different therapeutic approaches, and in particular use (DDP) which is an evidence-based approach for use with children struggling with attachments and associated issues.
Expectations of the Role
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their skills and experiences in engaging with children, effectively managing risk and promoting person-centred involvement in their care and treatment.
You will want to work in a therapeutic environment that supports children move towards a safe, more independent future.
Each child we work with has varying degrees of CAMHS input. You would be expected to work with all multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, other registered mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, teaching staff and therapists to coordinate appropriate care and support for the child. The primary focus of the role will be to coordinate the assessment, planning and implementation of care for our children alongside our registered managers and operational teams.
