Kent & Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is a specialist mental health trust situated within the pleasant surroundings and open countryside of Kent. There are excellent links and easy access to both London and the Continent.

The trust is expanding its specialist perinatal mental health service. We are recruiting a full time Perinatal Community Nurse to work alongside the existing team in the Mother and Infant Mental Health Service (MIMHS) for West Kent, based in Maidstone.

The successful candidate will provide specialist clinical interventions to those experiencing perinatal mental illness. The post holder will be responsible for keeping updated with regards to advances within the sphere of perinatal mental health ensuring evidenced based practice. Training and supervision of others is expected in relation to perinatal mental illness.

To succeed in this role you must be a qualified RMN/RN Mental Health. You must have a minimum of three years experience of working as a qualified mental health nurse. Leadership skills, communication skills, creativity and innovation will be required. The ability to work autonomously and prioritise the work requires flexibility. An awareness of the impact of maternal mental illness upon infant development and safeguarding procedures is a required.

This post is subject to a six month probationary period for candidates external to the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

Employment in this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner.

As part of the Band 6 Nursing team you will be required to attain a mentoring qualification.
