St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the oldest hospital site in England, is home to world-leading cardiac and cancer centres, providing state of the art treatment to our patients in the very heart of the City of London. We offer robotic surgery, ECMO, complex electrophysiology and are a leading provider of stem cell transplantation and immunotherapy for cancer treatment. We also are one of the top five busiest Heart Attack Centres in the UK and home to the largest Atrial Fibrillation Ablation centre in Europe.

Our vision is to be a leading and innovative nursing and AHP centre providing exceptional care and patient experience. We are a dedicated, supportive and ambitious team offering excellent training and development opportunities, including a growing nursing and AHP research and clinical academic career programme (internships, MSc, PhDs, post-doctoral opportunities).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated nurse to gain a broad experience of Cardiology nursing through a 12 month rotational programme. The structure would include 6 months in the Coronary Care Unit. The CCU is a 40 bedded Intervention and Electrophysiology unit which is the home of our Heart Attack Centre, and our emergency arrhythmia pathway, both taking direct admissions from the London Ambulance Service. There will also be 3 months on the Cardiology inpatient/step down Ward, and 3 months in the Daycase/overnight stay unit.

Placements in each area would be underpinned by competencies to provide structure to your experience there. At the conclusion of the rotation, a position in one these units would be available, and where possible we would offer you the preference of clinical area.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to the provision of safe and compassionate care and demonstrate a willingness to learn, and to teach. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
