Due to the upcoming recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Brixton.
HMP Brixton will be a Category B male prison from April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
Hours
We are looking for 20 hours per week to be covered. There is flexibility around when those hours are between 8.30am and 10pm.
Salary
This position is part time working 20 hours per week. Y ou'll receive an annual salary up to £ Apply full time equivalent per annum - depending on experience

What you'll be doing
As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient's requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required
- Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
- Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
