We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Isle of Wight, a c ategory B male training prison. Located on the Isle of Wight, 8 minutes from St Mary's Hospital and 26 minutes away from Cowes Ferry Terminal.

In this role you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

The site currently offers a 24-hour service and shift patterns

Mon - Fri - 7.30am - 5.30pm

Sat - Sun - 8am - 5.30pm-

Parkhurst Nights - 6pm - 7.30am

IHU long days - 7.30am - 9pm

IHU Nights - 8.45am - 7.45pm
The shift hours are on a 4 week rolling pattern and you will be expected to work every other weekend and bank holidays.

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £43,534 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Deliver non-judgemental care
  • Build strong links with our partners and stakeholders

Qualifications required
  • Registered nurse - Adult
  • Current professional qualification (NMC)
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
