We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Onley, category B men's prison and Rye Hill , a category B mens Prison, both located in Rugby .

This role will be spent 50% on site at Onley and 50% spent working at Rye Hill. Both located very close to each other.

Hours

37.5 hours a week working 2.5 days at Onley and 2.5 days at Rye Hill, either 8-4 or 8.30-4.30pm.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £40,211per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Learning Disabilities Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic
    experiences and may be distressed
  • Assess patient's health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
  • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams
    and supporting each other to do a great job.

Qualifications required:
  • Qualified LD Nurse - NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
