About the role:
The Chief Nursing Officer is a pivotal role within Harley Street Clinic's Executive team, providing visible clinical leadership and direction for the development of nursing practice and monitoring of standards to ensure continuous delivery of outstanding patient care. This position will also provide the same executive leadership to our incredible AHP senior leaders, bringing together a robust and dynamic approach to care delivery and service development.
This position has clinical responsibility for over 350 staff members across multiple sites in London, including Leaders in Oncology Care (which has four separate settings with over 60 chemotherapy/SACT chairs) and HCA ApplyCH, a comprehensive Haematology bone marrow transplant and oncology service with 40 inpatient beds and chemotherapy day unit.
As the Chief Nurse, you will lead on patient safety, patient experience and the quality of the services across the site, ensuring the hospital is in keeping with the local and national clinical standards and facilitating a culture of continuous improvement of high- quality patient centred care.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To ensure that there are adequate systems in place to ensure the safe delivery, monitoring and evaluation of patient care, while implementing a plan to ensure adequate recruitment and retention of appropriately skilled staff.
- Assume responsibilities as Director of infection prevention and control for the hospital and have executive responsibility for ensuring strategies are implemented to prevent avoidable healthcare associated infections at all levels in the organisation.
- Take executive lead responsibility for clinical risk management in the site, encompassing risk strategy, systems and structures to ensure risk management is embedded at all levels throughout the organisation
- To ensure that there is a robust risk management framework in place addressing adverse incidents and near misses, complaints are reported and evaluated and where indicated policies and protocols are amended.
- Ensure effective management of clinical services and to ensure the safety of all staff, patients and visitors by implementation and monitoring of relevant policies and procedures.
- To be responsible for the development and maintenance and monitoring of clinical standards and practices ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient centred care
- Registered Nurse - Level 1 with valid NMC registration
- Additional Registered Qualification appropriate specialities e.g. RGN, RM Higher Management degree / diploma is desirable
- Experience at Senior Management Level
- Budget management experience
- Ability to understand and advise on daily issues relating to staffing and productivity
- In depth Knowledge and experience of health and safety risk and Clinical Governance
- Experience within Oncology or ITU is advantageous but not essential.
