Job Description

Role: Advanced Oncology Outpatient Physiotherapist
Site: London Bridge Hospital (The Shard)
Full time permanent: 37.5 hours

We're looking for an Advanced Band 7 Physiotherapist to joining our Outpatient team based at The Shard. Currently rated "Outstanding" by the CQC.

The London Bridge Hospital in South East London encompasses an outpatients and diagnostic centre in The Shard; the large world-class hospital based at the Tooley Street site; Private Care at Guys, which is on the top four floors of Guys Hospital Cancer Centre; and outpatient and diagnostic centres across the City and Canary Wharf.

As an Advanced Physiotherapist you will have the skill and experience to manage an Oncology and Lymphoedema Outpatient caseload, whilst supporting the Physiotherapy Lead with service development initiatives.

Applicants with only Oncology experience will be considered for the role, however a desire to gain competency in Lymphoedema management is essential. For the right candidate, HCA will support the upskilling and development through professional Lymphoedema training.

Duties include:
  • To provide comprehensive initial and ongoing assessment for each patient
  • To plan and implement treatment using SMART goals
  • To work to the highest standard to facilitate evidence based practice in line with local and national guidelines
  • To effectively manage a Lymphoedema case load and provide specialised treatment to patients within the LBH campus, including implementing quality initiatives and quality assurance methods for the Lymphoedema service.
  • To take an active role in the management and development of the Lymphoedema service at LBH in conjunction with the Outpatient Physiotherapy Lead and Clinical Physiotherapy Lead
  • To assist in the marketing of the Lymphoedema service and liaison with consultants
  • To practice in accordance with the CSP & HCPC standards, demonstrating exceptional personal and professional conduct complying with the HCA code of conduct
  • As per service need may be required to provide a Lymphoedema service to patients in other areas of the hospital/across HCA
  • To communicate effectively with Oncology and Haematology consultants, and other referral sources, developing and building professional relationships, through regular written and verbal communication.
Skills and Experience
  • Physiotherapy degree qualification
  • HCPC registration
  • Relevant post graduate training in Oncology
  • Relevant post graduate training in Lymphoedema e.g. garment fitting, Vodders.
  • Outpatient experience
