Job Description

Main duties of the job
The lead nurse will support the Unit Director and Head of Nursing in the delivery of operational and budgetary management of nursing, quality and standards of care. She/he will ensure that services are delivered within allocated budgets, identifying evidence to support safe and effective service delivery and contribute to the delivery of the Divisional financial plans.
S/he will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and relevant departments internal and external to the Division to ensure the delivery of responsive individualised patient care developing and supporting nursing staff to respond to the transforming nursing agenda.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Finance and Resource Management - Undertaking reviews of the nursing workforce and skill mix, developing and implementing agreed recommendations that reflect national standards. With the Head of Nursing and Unit Director develop and implement the response to effective and efficient ways of working to maximise the use of resources.
Research and Development - Ensuring that practice is evidence based and aligned to Trust Policies and Guidelines. Contributing to capacity building for research and development for clinical staff.
Policy and Strategy - Ensuring all clinical areas meet the requirements to provide education and deliver quality placements within the Division for students. Demonstrating clear visible leadership in respect of systems and process in place for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults within the service.
Clinical Governance and Effectiveness - Support and contribute to the clinical governance agenda working as a key player in the Divisional Senior Leadership team to deliver safe and effective care. Contributing and responding to clinical audit, ensuring actions plans are developed and implemented to address areas for improvement with areas of responsibility.
